Terms of service
Last updated: October 7, 2026
These terms govern your use of balancesheet.art and the game on it (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Questions: privacy@balancesheet.art.
The Service
balancesheet.art is an educational game about accounting, financial statements and investing. Some chapters are free; the rest are part of the full course, which you can buy.
Educational use only
Everything in the Service is general education. It is not financial, investment, accounting, tax or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy or sell any security. The companies in the story are fictional; real-world examples are given for illustration and may be simplified or out of date. Make your own decisions, and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
Accounts
You can play without an account. To sync progress or buy the full course, you sign in through Google, X or Meta. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to the sign-in method you use. Please give us accurate information and use only accounts that belong to you.
Purchases
- The full course is a one-time purchase that gives your account access to all chapters for as long as the Service is offered. It is not a subscription and there are no recurring charges.
- Prices are shown before you pay and include any taxes stated at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- If something is wrong with your purchase, email privacy@balancesheet.art. We handle refund requests fairly and as required by applicable consumer law. A refunded purchase removes access to the paid chapters.
- Your purchase is for your personal, non-commercial use and may not be transferred or resold.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, redistribute or publish paid content, or share access to it;
- get around access controls or payment, or use someone else’s account without permission;
- scrape, overload, attack or disrupt the Service;
- use the Service for anything unlawful.
Content
The Service and its content (text, puzzles, characters, artwork and code) belong to balancesheet.art or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for learning, subject to these terms.
Changes and suspension
We may update, change or discontinue parts of the Service. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see data deletion).
Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep the content accurate and the Service running, but we do not guarantee that it is error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on the Service, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will post the new version here and update the date above. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new terms.
